Autumn in The Lakes + Studio Updates
New beginnings, a little NYC adventure, and a T-shirt update you'll want to read.

Hello Friends!
Autumn is well and truly here now - with the leaves falling and the fells turning a beautiful rusty colour as the bracken dies back, it’s a wonderful time to be in The Lakes.

Beautiful autumn morning in The Lakes
It’s been busy too - the house move went smoothly, and I now have a garden! That’s allowed me to start work on a project I’ve dreamed of for years: building a separate studio. For the past five years, I’ve been painting on a bench in my very small kitchen (and yes, that was as impractical as it sounds). Planning the new studio has been so exciting - the thought that I might soon have a space completely dedicated to my art still feels like a fantasy. I’ve been choosing the layout and finish of the building though, so it looks like it’s actually happening.

So many choices to make!
I’m not going to be building it myself, of course (I have far too many animals smoking pipes and eating crisps to paint for that), but I have been getting my hands dirty preparing the ground for the experts. Hopefully, I’ll have something exciting to show you next month.

It makes a nice change from holding a paintbrush.
Last week I saw the completion of the final paintings for my solo show in NYC. It was a stressful day as I packed them up and helped load them into the back of a van. The next time I see all my friends will be in New York in November!

All packed up and off to some new homes
I’m really proud of this show, and I hope as many people as possible will get to see it. It’s at Harman Projects from 8th November to 6th December - you’ve seen part of the show on Instagram, and I’ll share more in the next couple of weeks. Please do pop in if you’re in the neighbourhood; there are 29 four-legged characters and one pigeon who’d love to meet you!
I was straight into some new paintings afterwards, and here’s a sneak peek - you might recognise these two from a previous charcoal sketch.

Well dressed for Autumn
Until next time ❤️
