Studio News

Hello Friends! I’ve had a couple of trips to London this month, the first was dropping off my submission for the Royal Academy Summer exhibition. I had a piece accepted last year - so fingers crossed for this one. Dropping off is a funny do. You have to go round the back of the Royal Academy by the bins into a back door and the whole thing lasts about 2 seconds. They take your work off you and it’s over! When I got back to the studio, it was the final preparations for my upcoming show at Liberty’s of London. I had them finished in plenty of time (not always the case!), so I just had to varnish the last few and drop them off for framing at Klein Editions in Manchester. They looked fab when I picked them all up, so the next task was packing for transport to London. That meant somehow fitting all 17 into a pair of suitcases. Then Jen and I set off on the train and arrived at Liberty’s looking like a pair of lost tourists with giant luggage in tow! We spent the rest of the day at art galleries and saw the truly moving Hurvin Anderson exhibition at Tate Britain. It was so inspiring - it’s important to step outside my little bubble and go see some art every now and again. All I could think about after seeing it was getting home to paint. I feel like I’m in a really good place with my painting at the moment - with many new pieces on the go. I should probably finish some - but once I get the seed of an idea, I need to get it out of my head and onto the surface quickly. If you’re in London - you can check out my show in Liberty’s wonderful Seventy Five restaurant from 22 May - 25 June. ❤️ ![]() | ![]() Mother’s Hair ![]() The Inspiring Hurvin Anderson show ![]() Lots on the go! |
